run, boy, run!

Yo yo yo! The name's Dasher, but a lot call me Dash. I'm the fastest of the group, and definitely the best since I pace Santa's sleigh. If you haven't heard the songs, I'm also numero uno in the list of reindeer. Nice to meet y'all!

run, boy, run!

I like playing tricks on my reindeer friends, it's funny to see their faces whenever they fall for them! Of course, although everyone knows I'm totally the mastermind behind the tricks. no one sees them coming. What can I say? I'm the fastest of them all. Heh heh heh.

I'm speedy, if that wasn't obvious from my name, and I value my time a lot. The rest of my friends are there taking things slow, but there's just so much to life, you know, and life is super short! They're always, "Dasher, stop dashing!" or "Dasher, slow down, I can't keep up!" I have no time to slow down, life is an adventure and there are so many places I want to go! Keep up!

Honestly, I guess I can be emotional at times? I know I can get too high on my horse sometimes, but hear me out. There are some days where I just reflect on life, you know, and I have some existential crisis (especially when that boy Rudolph came into the picture). I was always the first one mentioned in the songs, I was part of the original 8, and I felt like I had a purpose and Santa loved me, but god, Rudolph's big dumb nose outshone me. When it's foggy outside, sure, Rudolph's nose lights the way, but when the moon's super bright it just distracts my eyes. My speed can be of service, foggy or clear, so obviously I should be more useful than that Rudolph. Hmph.

Okay sorry, this turned out to be a rant session, but y'know, you learned something new about me today!

FAQ

(...because everyone keeps asking.)

What's the view like up there?

First, it's really chilly up above the clouds! You'd never wonder why Santa wore such thick clothing and had multitudes of blubber underneath his skin. it's freezing cold, damn it! Reindeer, thankfully, are adapt to this nature, so the cold doesn't really bother me. It's nice to have a hot cocoa after a round of gift-giving to warm my pacing little heart.

Reading back, I realized I never really gave a relevant answer to what the view was like, did I? Well, I can't see the people anymore from way, way up, but going over cityscapes at night really makes me happy, because I can really see the glimmer of lights and it's like, wow, I wish I could see the view from down there! Santa never allowed us to go down to the streets since people might see us, so I've always wondered what it would be like to be human.

A huge reason why I want to be an adventurer someday is because I get sick of watching from above! The first few rides were fun, but I've grown weary of the view. In my mind during riding sessions, I'd look down and think, "I wonder what are in those buildings or caves or underneath the sea." That's why I like rushing, it gets my job done faster so Santa can give me time to explore places, but it's just not enough!

(I care about the kids and their gifts and all, but like, hey Santa... [slides $20] if you could just, you know, lay me off for one day and have me go exploring, that would be great... I think you like Rudolph a lot so he can just do my job...)

Do you like Rudolph?

No. Duh. I'm pretty sure all my friends know that. (Haven't you read my about section yet?)

Who is your favorite reindeer?

Me, of course! Who doesn't love me?

Who is your favorite reindeer, asides from you?

What kind of question is that?

Probably Dancer, I like their moves a lot, plus Santa pairs us too often for us not to at least be acquainted with each other. Sometimes, Dancer teaches all of us how to dance, and though I can't copy all of Dancer's steps, I can proudly say I'm second to Dancer in terms of dancing!

Best prank/s so far?

You would not believe this, but one time I told Rudolph that another reindeer, Ralph, was coming to the winter workshop. Rudolph wasn't fazed, of course (probably because he knew he was still "the best"), but then I told him, "Bud, Ralph's nose is infrared. Infrared light is light. His nose glows red, just as yours, and his nose is hot so he can clear up fog, too." Rudolph's eyes then widened, and maybe it was just me, but I could see the terror in his eyes. He went away for a while, quiet as a mouse, and a few minutes he came back saying, "Ralph is a fictional character," he whispered to me. I merely snickered. It wasn't much, but hey, I shook Rudolph's pride for a while. Solid achievement.

Another time, Dancer was, well, dancing around, and I placed a bucket of slime on top of a slightly ajar door. Of course, with full conviction from dancing, Dancer opened the door with all his might, and it just so happened that Prancer was prancing too quickly, he had not seen Dancer by the doorway and bumped him before the bucket fell. Basically, I slimed Prancer instead of Dancer, and both of them didn't talk to me that day. Two birds with one stone! That was such a great day.

Favorite song?

Glee's version of Jingle Bell Rock! I appreciate that Santa hums Jingle Bells, but that song is so soft, ew. The rock version is better, and Glee's rock version is even better. I could wear an Elvis suit and prance around the room with a made-up mic just singing that song. My reindeer friends could be my back-up singers or dancers, whatever, but I have to be the centerpiece!
